Infrastructure & Transportation

To establish an integrated plan to rebuild St. Bernard Parish infrastructure to promote the repopulation of St. Bernard Parish. To ensure that the infrastructure can handle increased population as more citizens return to St. Bernard and new citizens decide to move to St. Bernard Parish.

To establish a plan to develop inter-parish and intra-parish transportation that provides easy access to all citizens and includes all major business areas, education areas, medical areas and connects the residential areas to these service areas.

Education

St. Bernard Parish has lost its education infrastructure including Public K-12 and Private K-12 institutions as well as the Nunez Community College. The goal is to re-establish quality education throughout the parish as soon as possible thereby providing parents and students with the needed re-assurance that essential and quality educational institutions will be in place and functioning at a high level of competency when they re-populate St. Bernard Parish.

Economic Development

The Vision of the Economic Development Workgroup is to grow the economic vitality of St. Bernard Parish by restoring and attracting all former St. Bernard Businesses.

Furthermore, it is our Vision to attract new businesses from diverse industries. You, the citizen, will be crucial in identify what these industries are. That is why we need your effort. Together, the NEW ST. BERNARD will be THE PLACE to work, live and raise our children.

Housing

The mission of the Housing Subcommittee is to re-establish and restore St. Bernard's residential housing damaged by Hurricane Katrina. By introducing innovative home building and subdivision concepts, when and where appropriate, we will seek to enhance the quality of life that our citizens have enjoyed for generations. Our vision for the future will preserve the best elements from our past and hope to correct errors in building or neighborhood design that may have lessened the full enjoyment of home ownwership.

Environmental / Public Safety

Our mission is to develop a plan to improve and maintain the overall environmental and public safety of St. Bernard Parish. A comprehensive plan shall be developed to achieve and maintain environmental standards by maintaining a continuing relationship with the EPA, DEQ, independent environmental groups and the creation of a Parish Environmental Agency. To maintain public safety within the parish, we shall work to modernize these agencies with state of the art technology and to relocate and centralize within the new St. Bernard Parish.

Coastal Protection
